Spring Fever

It’s nearly that time again. To a lot of people, spring represents warm days, blooming flowers and rebirth. A time when the gray days turn bright and full of life. Spring cleaning, yard work, getting everything in order.

For me, chirping birds and buttercups seem to bring a sort of craziness in me. I’m like the energizer bunny on speed. Last weekend I redecorated my main bath. Daffodil yellow--guess I was just a little too happy to see them blooming this year. Three coats later and I’ve found a color I can live with.

This past weekend I spring cleaned my house, or at least the downstairs. It started Friday night in the kitchen. I was going to clean out the refrig. Then came the small freezer, but that left the big one so I cleaned it out. Then one cabinet, which led to another and well you get the picture. By two a.m. my kitchen was perfect and I passed out in bed.

Then came Saturday morning. One cup of coffee and I was dusting the china cabinet. I blew through the rooms, cleaning out closets, toys, clothes. I threw out the toddler bed, put up a twin. By midnight I was exhausted but thought I had finally gotten it out of my system.

I dragged my butt out of bed Sunday morning, my rarely used muscles screaming. A pot of coffee later and I was in my bedroom tossing things out like a mad woman. My car no longer fits in the garage, my husband and kids fear me and I still haven’t made it upstairs. Or to the attic. And the garage is definitely begging for it. Then there’s my car that needs cleaning, leaves that need raking.

Meanwhile I have three stories that are sitting on the verge of completion, begging to be finished. It’s all a little overwhelming. Spring officially arrives next week, I’m just hoping I make it.
